Brand New Day

Eftersom jag ännu inte, vad jag kan komma på, har skrivit nåt här utan att först ha inspirerats av någon annans blogg, följer ännu en i raden. Man kan ju inte bryta trenden... :-)

xrob skriver om 10 värsta låttexterna, och jag försöker komma på dåliga textrader. Men det jag kommer på är BRA texter, och favoritartisten ståtar med några av de bästa. Ta bara Brand New Day, finns på skivan "Savage" från 1988:
"It´s six o´clock in the morning and I´m steppin´ through the streets
Pavement´s cold and empty, got the blues beneath my feet
Big old sun is rising up, so elegant and thin
Another day is over, so a new day will begin" (fast jag hör "for a new day to begin"?)
Hur kan man annat än gilla en sån text?

Ett annat exempel på, i mitt tycke, lysande text är från "I Love You Like A Ball And Chain":
"I love you like a ball and chain...
I´m a fool I know but I´m stuck on you
I´m a fool I know and it´s makin me blue
There´s a river of blood, there´s a river of tears
I´ve been wasting all these years"
Snacka om levande beskrivning! Hur många kan inte känna igen sig?

Ett annat lysande exempel är Howard Jones:
"I love you whether or not you love me
I love you even if you think that I don´t
Sometimes I find you doubt my love for you, but I don' t mind
Why should I mind, why should I mind?

What is love anyway, does anybody love anybody anyway?

Can anybody love anyone so much that they will never fear
Never worry, never be sad
The answer is they cannot love this much nobody can
This is why I don´t mind you doubting

And maybe love is letting people be just what they want to be
The door always must be left unlocked
To love when circumstance may lead someone away from you
And not to spend the time just doubting"
